Ten people were injured Wednesday night in a shooting outside Amazura nightclub in Jamaica, Queens, as they waited to enter a private event, according to New York police.
Around 11:15 p.m., a group of 15 people, aged 16 to 20, were standing outside the venue when four men approached on foot and opened fire, said NYPD Chief of Patrol Philip Rivera. Approximately 30 shots were fired before the attackers fled on foot and were later seen leaving in a sedan with out-of-state plates.
“This kind of senseless violence has zero tolerance,” Rivera stated during a press conference Thursday.
The victims, comprising six women and four men, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals.
Footage shared on social media showed a significant police presence and ambulances stationed outside the nightclub following the incident.
While the motive remains unclear, Rivera confirmed that the attack was not linked to terrorism. Police are continuing to investigate the shooting and search for the suspects.
