10 Skiers Missing After Avalanche Strikes California’s Sierra Nevada
Up to 10 skiers are missing following a devastating avalanche that struck a backcountry slope in California’s Sierra Nevada on Tuesday. The avalanche occurred in the Castle Peak area near Truckee, amid heavy snowfall.
Six skiers, who were part of the group, managed to survive the ordeal and remain at the scene. According to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, the group consisted of four guides and 12 clients when the avalanche hit.
Rescue teams are currently working around the clock to locate and assist the missing skiers. Authorities continue to monitor the situation as search and recovery operations unfold in the treacherous conditions.
