At least 10 Pakistani soldiers and 109 militants were killed after security forces repelled large-scale, coordinated attacks across the southwestern province of Balochistan, a senior security official said on Saturday.

According to the official, militants launched simultaneous attacks at 12 locations early Saturday, including in the provincial capital, Quetta. The official spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorised to brief the media.

“Militants targeted multiple sites, including security force installations in Quetta, Noshki, Dalbandin, Pasni and Gwadar,” the source told Anadolu.

Pakistan’s armed forces, alongside the Frontier Corps and Balochistan Police, responded swiftly to what the official described as “malicious plans,” successfully foiling the attacks.

Security officials said 58 militants were killed during operations carried out on Saturday, while another 51 were eliminated in separate security actions across the province on Friday, bringing the total number of militant fatalities to 109 within 48 hours.

Ten security personnel were also killed in the clashes, while several others sustained injuries.

The military has yet to issue an official statement on Saturday’s developments. However, on Friday it confirmed that at least 41 militants were killed in two separate operations in Balochistan’s Harnai and Panjgur districts.

Pakistan has experienced a resurgence of militant violence in recent years, particularly in its western and southwestern regions, with Balochistan remaining a key hotspot for insurgent activity.
