All 13 passengers abducted from a Benue Links vehicle in the Eke area of Okpokwu Local Government Area, Benue State, have been rescued following a coordinated operation by security agencies and local vigilantes.

Confirming the development on Sunday, Okpokwu LGA Chairman, Adah Inalegwu, said the rescue mission began yielding results on Saturday when two victims were freed after intensified search efforts in nearby forests.

He noted that collaboration with youths from neighbouring Kogi State helped mount additional pressure on the kidnappers, culminating in the release of the remaining 11 passengers around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Oando village.

Inalegwu attributed the success of the operation to enhanced security surveillance, tracking technology, and logistical support provided by Governor Hyacinth Alia.

The rescued victims are currently being profiled by authorities before they are reunited with their families.
