1,500 African Artistes Set to Perform at IPADA Carnival, Say Organisers

Organisers of the upcoming IPADA Carnival, a cultural tourism event, announced that over 1,500 African artistes from across 54 countries will perform at the 14-day celebration. The event, scheduled to run from Nov. 29 to Dec. 12 at La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, aims to promote African heritage to both Africans in the diaspora and those seeking to reconnect with their roots.

Mr. Salvation Alibor, Co-Founder of XPark360, a financial partner for the carnival, made the announcement during a stakeholders meeting on Monday, unveiling the lineup of programmes for the festival. “IPADA,” meaning “The Return” in Yoruba, symbolizes a yearly gathering celebrating the return of people of African descent to their ancestral homeland.

Alibor shared that the carnival has garnered support from the Nigerian Presidency, the Federal Ministry of Tourism, and several state governments.

“The IPADA Carnival will highlight the richness of African culture, with performances from 1,500 artistes spanning music, dance, arts, and natural resources. It’s not only a celebration of African talent but also an opportunity to create wealth for the continent through collaboration and unity,” he said.

The event will also feature the Nefertiti Queen of Africa beauty pageant, showcasing authentic African beauty, and the Ose Awards, which will honor Africans excelling in fields such as arts, science, philosophy, and politics. Award recipients will be bestowed with chieftaincy titles across African countries.

An extensive “One Million Africa Meal Buffet” will present various African cuisines, highlighting the continent’s culinary diversity.

According to Alibor, the carnival is focused on cultural promotion and creating a sustainable tourism economy
