2 more charged in Louvre jewel heist as three suspects released from custody
French prosecutors have charged two additional suspects in connection with last month’s high-profile robbery at the Louvre Museum in Paris, bringing the total number of people formally accused in the case to four.
According to the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office, both newly charged individuals deny any involvement in the daring heist, which targeted a collection of valuable jewels.
Authorities said three of the five people arrested on October 29 have since been released from custody after questioning. The remaining suspects continue to face judicial investigation.
The Louvre robbery, which occurred in early October, has drawn widespread attention in France and abroad due to the scale and audacity of the theft. Investigators are still piecing together how the culprits managed to breach the museum’s security and escape with the jewels.
French police have yet to disclose further details about the charges or whether any of the stolen items have been recovered.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
