Two United Airlines aircraft collided on the ground at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport on Saturday when the wing of one plane struck the tail of another while taxiing, officials confirmed.

According to the airline, Flight 2652, which had just arrived from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, was taxiing to its gate when its right wing clipped the horizontal stabilizer of another United aircraft that was stationary on the tarmac.

A spokesperson for United Airlines said no injuries were reported. “Passengers deplaned normally,” the statement read. Flight 2652 was carrying 113 passengers and five crew members, while the second plane had no passengers aboard at the time of the incident.

One passenger, Bill Marcus, who was on the arriving flight, said he was unaware of the collision until he noticed airport staff gathering near the aircraft. “I was shocked that I didn’t feel something more,” Marcus told reporters. “When they separated the planes, there was some shuddering, but the crew handled everything calmly and professionally.”

Marcus added that passengers were delayed for about 40 minutes before being allowed to disembark.

United Airlines has not provided details on what led to the collision, while the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
