2027: I Won’t Be Anyone’s Running Mate, Peter Obi Declares
Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has confirmed that he will contest the 2027 general election, insisting that he will not serve as a vice-presidential candidate to anyone.
Obi made the declaration during an X Spaces discussion on Sunday night, where he addressed supporters on his political plans ahead of the next election cycle.
The former Anambra State governor said his years of experience in governance and business have positioned him to lead the country, not to play a secondary role.
“I am not travelling round the world to learn governance to be vice-president,” Obi said.
He expressed confidence in his ability to turn Nigeria around, noting that he built his business from scratch and possesses what he described as more experience than other contenders, including the incumbent president.
“Peter Obi will be on the ballot in 2027. I need your support. I need your prayers,” he added.
Obi’s statement comes amid growing political activities and alignments ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
