Three brothers, Oluwasuyi Medahusi, 39; Ololajuni Medahusi, 33 and Adegoke Medahusi, 23 on Friday appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State over alleged theft of a phone worth N180,000.
The defendants, whose occupations and addresses were not given, are facing a four-count charge bordering on felony, stealing, assault and breach of peace.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that the defendants and others at large, on Jan. 30, around 10.00 a.m. at Ayeka in the Okitipupa, Okitipupa magisterial district, conspired to commit felony.
Omoyeigha said that the defendants and others at large stole a Tecno POP android phone worth N180,000, property of one Sunday Aboma.
He stated that the defendants also assaulted Aboma by beating him with fist blow, which caused him bodily harm.
The prosecutor said that the defendants caused breach of public peace by barricading the road and collecting toll fare from passersby.
The offences, according to him, are contrary and punishable under Sections 412, 390(9), 351 and 249(d) of the Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol. I, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Mayowa Olanipekun, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 each, with a surety each in like sum.
Olanipekun said that the sureties must be residing within the court’s jurisdiction and must show and present evidence of two years tax payment to Ondo State government.
He, thereafter, adjourned the case till April 11 for further hearing.
