‎Indonesian police have arrested and paraded 34 men accused of participating in an alleged gay sex party at a hotel in Surabaya, East Java.

According to Mail Online, the suspects were detained during a midnight raid on October 19 and later marched barefoot through the streets, bound together with zip ties.

Authorities said the raid was conducted around 1 a.m. local time following reports from residents who noticed unusual activity on one of the hotel floors. Items such as contraceptives, mobile phones, and other electronic devices were seized from the scene.

A hotel representative told local media that management was unaware of the alleged party, noting that each room is considered a private space for guests. The representative said the person who made the reservation had rented two adjoining rooms and added that the incident had negatively affected the hotel’s reputation.

“The impact is quite disappointing because there’s been some unpleasant feedback about our hotel,” the representative told CNN Indonesia, while assuring tourists that the hotel remains committed to ensuring guests’ privacy, safety, and comfort.

The Head of the Surabaya Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKBP Edy Herwiyanto, confirmed that all 34 detainees have been named as suspects. He explained that while some were participants, others played organizational roles, including as financiers, administrators, and assistants.

Police have not yet disclosed the specific charges against the suspects.
