An unprecedented storm has devastated the southern Argentine port city of Bahía Blanca, resulting in 15 confirmed fatalities, with local authorities cautioning that the death toll may rise due to the storm’s severity.
Mayor Federico Susbielles has suspended all activities and urged residents to remain indoors. The storm has led to the evacuation of at least 1,450 individuals, with approximately 100 people reported missing. In response, the Argentine government has initiated a comprehensive assistance and evacuation operation, involving the defense and security ministries, as well as the provincial government of Buenos Aires.
This storm is the most intense in Bahía Blanca’s history, surpassing the previous rainfall record set in March 1933.
Residents are advised to stay updated through official channels and adhere to safety protocols as emergency services continue their efforts in the affected regions.
