The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended four Chinese nationals and 27 Nigerians over alleged illegal mining operations in Jos.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale said the suspects were arrested on Saturday at Jiasheng Nigeria Limited, located at Dura Rayfield, Mangu Road, Jos.

Oyewale explained that the operation followed credible intelligence linking the company to illegal mining activities. Among the arrested individuals are suppliers caught with unprocessed solid minerals suspected to have been illegally extracted.

During the operation, EFCC operatives recovered exhibits, including a truck carrying eight bags of processed Monazite, weighing 1,000kg, with each bag valued at N4 million.

The commission stated that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the probe.
