A Myanmar military airstrike on Friday afternoon targeted the village of Let Pan Hla in Singu township, approximately 65 kilometers north of Mandalay, resulting in at least 27 civilian deaths and injuring 30 others, according to opposition sources.

The village, under the control of pro-democracy resistance forces, was reportedly struck around 3 p.m. local time. Osmond, a spokesperson for the Mandalay People’s Defense Force, stated that the area targeted was a bustling market zone, not a military installation.

Since the military coup in February 2021, Myanmar has experienced widespread conflict, with the junta intensifying airstrikes against pro-democracy militias and ethnic minority guerrilla groups. Access to affected regions remains restricted, making independent verification of casualty figures challenging.

The international community continues to express concern over escalating violence in Myanmar, urging all parties to adhere to international humanitarian laws and protect civilian lives.
