Thousands of Christian worshippers gathered in Maiduguri for a revival crusade led by Dr. Paul Enenche, General Overseer of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja.

The event, titled “Ignited: A Fire of Revival in Borno State,” drew attendees from across the Northeast for a night of prayers, worship, and spiritual upliftment in a city once at the center of insurgency.

Held without incident, the crusade highlighted the improving security situation in Borno and the resilience of the Christian community. Worshippers sang, prayed, and listened to sermons focused on hope, unity, and faith despite past security challenges.

The gathering comes amid recent government clarifications refuting claims that Christians in Nigeria, particularly in the Northeast, are being deliberately targeted. Officials have dismissed such narratives as misleading attempts to influence foreign governments’ stance on Nigeria’s religious climate.

Many attendees described the crusade as historic, emphasizing their right to practice their faith freely.

“This is a sign that peace is returning to Borno. The presence of such a large Christian gathering at night in Maiduguri without fear is a powerful message,” said Deborah Musa, a worshipper from Yobe State.

Another attendee, Pastor James Buba, commended Dunamis International Gospel Centre for organizing the event, saying it rekindled hope among believers in the region.

Despite past insurgency threats, Borno has witnessed growing religious tolerance and improved security, allowing large-scale gatherings like this to take place safely.

The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to religious freedom, stating that violence affecting communities is driven by criminal activities and terrorism rather than state-sponsored persecution. Officials have urged both local and international observers to avoid exaggerating religious divisions in Nigeria.

As the revival concluded, worshippers left with renewed faith and optimism, seeing the event as a milestone in Borno’s path to peace and religious harmony.
