Tension gripped Edo State following a deadly attack inside a hospital that claimed the life of a health worker, triggering outrage among medical staff and patients.

The incident, which occurred in full view of patients and colleagues, has raised serious concerns about the safety of healthcare professionals. In response, devastated health workers staged a protest on Monday, April 28, demanding justice and urgent action from the authorities.

“We cannot continue to work in fear. Our colleague was killed in cold blood while performing his duties,” one protester said. “We call on the authorities to bring the killers to justice and ensure our safety.”

The protesters urged the government to investigate the attack thoroughly, apprehend those responsible, and implement stronger security measures to protect medical staff both inside hospitals and in the wider community.

The protest adds to growing unrest across the country, including demonstrations in Adamawa State where citizens have also demanded swift government intervention in rising insecurity.
