British counter-terrorism police have arrested five men, including four Iranian nationals, on suspicion of involvement in a terror-related plot targeting a specific location, the Metropolitan Police announced on Sunday.
The arrests were carried out on Saturday, May 3, 2025, across several locations including Swindon, west London, Stockport, Rochdale, and Manchester.
In a statement, the Met Police said the investigation is ongoing and remains in its early stages. “We are exploring various lines of enquiry to establish any potential motivation as well as to identify whether there may be any further risk to the public,” said Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.
Due to operational security, authorities have not released details of the alleged plot or the targeted premises.
The Iranian Embassy in London has yet to issue a response regarding the arrests.
