South Korea Bans Travel for Ex-PM, Finance Chief Over Martial Law Probe
South Korean authorities have imposed a travel ban on former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and ex-Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok, local media reported on Tuesday.
According to Korea JoongAng Daily, the move comes a day after both officials were questioned by police in connection with a controversial martial law decree issued by ousted President Yoon Suk Yeol on Dec. 3, 2024.
Also questioned on Monday was former Interior and Safety Minister Lee Sang-min.
Choi, who briefly served as acting president between December 2024 and March 2025 following Han’s impeachment, resigned earlier this month just before parliament moved to impeach him.
Investigations into the short-lived martial law declaration are ongoing.
