Authorities have revealed that the three young sisters found dead near a Washington campground likely died from asphyxiation. The victims—Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia Decker, 5—were reported missing after a scheduled visit with their homeless father, 32-year-old Travis Caleb Decker.

Their bodies were discovered Monday evening near Decker’s white 2017 GMC Sierra at Rock Island Campground in Wenatchee. A preliminary report filed with Chelan County Superior Court confirmed asphyxiation as the likely cause of death. AMBER Alerts issued for the girls were canceled shortly before their deaths were confirmed.

Decker, a military veteran with extensive training, is now wanted for three counts each of first-degree murder and kidnapping, along with first-degree custodial interference. He had been divorced from the girls’ mother, Whitney Decker, for several years and was required by court order to undergo mental health treatment and anger management before any contact. He was reportedly non-compliant.

According to court documents, Decker picked up the girls on Friday but failed to return them. His phone later went off, prompting Whitney to contact authorities. Surveillance and tracking placed him in the Leavenworth area.

Evidence recovered from the truck and nearby campsite included bloody handprints, blankets, food containers, car seats, and a wallet. Investigators believe the girls died near the site.

Decker is described as 5’8”, 190 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen in a light-colored shirt and dark shorts. Authorities warn he may be dangerous and should not be approached.

SWAT teams, Homeland Security, and the U.S. Forest Service have joined the search.

“This is an unimaginable situation,” Whitney said in a plea before the discovery. “I just want the girls back home safe.”
