Ogun Police Arrest Suspect Linked to Cult Killing, Recover Weapons

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Adekunle Adebajo for his alleged involvement in the murder of a rival cult member in Ijebu Ode. The Command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Saturday.

According to the statement, a concerned citizen alerted the Divisional Police Station in Igbeba on August 12, reporting a violent clash between rival cults. During the confrontation, the victim, known as ‘Mosquito,’ was brutally killed, with his left hand severed and taken by his assailants.

Following the tip-off, the police tracked Adebajo, also known as “Kunle Polly,” to his hideout in Isiwo, Ijebu, where he was apprehended at 12:03 a.m. Odutola revealed that Adebajo, 34, confessed to being a member of the Eiye confraternity during interrogation.

A subsequent search of his residence led to the recovery of a Beretta pistol loaded with six live rounds of ammunition, two UTC axes, and charms. The police are continuing their investigation to understand the significance of the severed hand and to apprehend other suspects who managed to escape.

Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, reassured the public that the police are committed to eradicating cultism in the Isiwo Ijebu community and vowed to bring the remaining suspects to justice.
