The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Benue State Command, has deployed 1,550 personnel to secure key areas in Makurdi and its environs ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s visit.

The deployment aims to maintain law and order during the president’s condolence visit to the state following recent deadly attacks in Yelwata community, Guma Local Government Area, which claimed over 200 lives.

Benue State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mrs. Alice Bitrus, disclosed the deployment to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Makurdi.

She said officers had been strategically stationed at Wurukum Roundabout, High Level, Government House Roundabout, Balcony Junction, and Yelwata to ensure a smooth and safe visit for the president.

Bitrus reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring security and peace, noting that NSCDC is working in collaboration with other security agencies to end the ongoing violence in the state.

She called on residents to remain calm, go about their normal activities, and promptly report any suspicious movements or incidents to security authorities.
