UNIBEN Names New Bursar, Librarian After Rigorous Selection

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has appointed Mr. Osagie Osifo as its new substantive Bursar and Professor Jane Aba as the university’s Librarian.

The announcement was made on Saturday in a statement released by the university’s spokesperson, Dr. Benedicta Ehanire. The appointments, she said, followed a competitive selection process approved by the Governing Council, chaired by Professor Umaru Shuaibu.

Mr. Osifo, an Accounting graduate from UNIBEN and a Fellow of the Chartered System Accountant (USA), was until recently the Bursar of Edo State University, Uzairue.

Professor Aba, an alumna of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, previously served as the University Librarian at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, from 2016 to 2021. Prior to her new role at UNIBEN, she was the Head of the Department of Library and Information Science at the same institution.

Dr. Ehanire noted that both appointments are for a single term of five years.
