The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Gombe State, has urged eligible Nigerians to register in the INEC voters’ registration, to enable them to exercise their franchise in the 2027 general elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has fixed August 18, for the commencement of a nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mr Adaline Patari, the NOA Director in the state, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Gombe in Wednesday.

Patari said the call was imperative to ensure that Nigerians leveraged the period to get registered and not wait for the closing date to appeal for extension.

She said that Nigerians, particularly women and youths, had the duty to register and get their PVCs.

“The PVC is their voting right and power to determine their future and who would govern them in their best interests in the coming general elections, “ she said.

She said those, who had attained the required voting age of 18, should visit the INEC offices in their respective local government areas and register for the PVC.

Patari said many youths and women often complained about leadership, adding that it was not enough to complain, but to get involved by registering to exercise their rights on the kind of leadership they wanted.

“Take advantage of this period to go and register because for you to contest or vote, you need your PVC.

“This is a civic responsibility for anyone that is 18 years and above.

“Women are now clamouring for inclusion in governance and politics and this cannot be gotten on a platter of gold, hence they must get involve in the political processes by first embracing registration.

“The youths should not always complain or be readily available to be used as political thugs; they should register and get their PVCs, to contribute their quota and get involved in leadership and politics,” she said.

While commending the media, traditional, community and religious leaders for their roles in promoting voter education and awareness in previous elections, Patati urged them to sustain the tempo.

According to Patari, the agency is planning to engage all stakeholders in the state towards boosting voter awareness and ensuring inclusion in democratic processes in the state.
