Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has once again raised concerns over the struggles and alleged mistreatment his son faced before his death.
In a conversation with Sunday Scoop, Aloba insisted that Mohbad was bullied while alive, dismissing recent claims by former Marlian Music boss, Naira Marley, who denied any wrongdoing.
Naira Marley had earlier stated in an interview that he only tried to guide Mohbad, particularly after discovering that the singer had allegedly begun experimenting with illicit substances.
But Aloba recounted his personal experience when he once visited Marley in an attempt to resolve issues raised by his son. According to him, what he witnessed during the visit strengthened his conviction that Mohbad was subjected to abuse.
He further alleged that one of Marley’s associates confided in him, claiming that the label boss physically assaulted the late artiste.
Aloba recalled, “When we went to see him to apologise, he wasn’t even speaking respectfully. People assume I went there to collect money, but life is beyond just what I want to eat.”
On allegations that Mohbad carried out financial transactions through unfamiliar accounts, Aloba admitted that such a situation existed. He said Marley had complained that the singer was receiving money through an account not registered in his name.
“I warned him that anything he wanted to give me should come from his own account,” he stated, adding that this was the extent of his knowledge of the issue.
