Nigerian actress Etinosa Idemudia has issued a strong warning to women in relationships with physically aggressive or abusive partners, urging them to take early signs of violence seriously.

In a candid message shared via her Instagram Stories, Etinosa stressed that abuse during dating often escalates after marriage, potentially becoming more frequent and severe. She appealed to women to prioritize their safety and recognize red flags before it’s too late.

“I don’t know who needs to hear this,” she wrote, “but if he’s putting hands on you while dating—shoving you, hitting your hand, pushing your head—just know it will graduate to full-blown beatings when you get married. Even before the marriage sef. He will beat you.”

Etinosa clarified that her message was directed at women who do not tolerate violence, encouraging them to leave before the situation worsens. Her advocacy comes from a personal place—having previously opened up about her own experience with domestic abuse.

The conversation around relationship violence has been reignited recently by a viral video showing an altercation between social media influencers Peller and Jarvis. In the footage, recorded after a concert in Lagos, Peller is seen pulling Jarvis into a vehicle and pushing her during an argument, raising alarm about escalating aggression in relationships.

Etinosa’s warning serves as a timely reminder for women to prioritize self-worth and safety, and not excuse abusive behavior during dating under the belief that it will change.
