Türkiye’s Cansuyu Charity Donates Four Water Wells to Ugand
Cansuyu Aid and Solidarity Association, a Turkish charity, has donated four newly drilled water wells to central Uganda, aiming to alleviate the region’s pressing water scarcity.
The wells, located in Luwero district, will benefit over 1,000 residents who previously endured long journeys and high costs to access clean water.
Bilal Degirmenci, international relations coordinator for Cansuyu, emphasized the organization’s commitment to providing clean, safe water in economically challenged areas.
“We’ve completed more than 5,000 water well projects across 40 countries in Africa and Asia. Depending on local needs, we implement both electric and handpump systems,” Degirmenci explained.
The electric systems are especially beneficial for mosques, schools, and communities able to sustain the electricity costs. Cansuyu’s continued efforts in Uganda include more water wells currently under construction.
Musa Kiggundu, director of Iqra Nursery and Primary School, one of the beneficiaries of the new wells, expressed gratitude for the project. He noted that access to clean water will enhance student hygiene and overall health.
Water scarcity remains a significant challenge in rural Uganda, where residents often spend over 30 minutes to access safe drinking water, hindering productivity and economic growth.
