Former Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Abiodun Odude, has died.

The news of his passing was announced by Akin Orowale, Chairman of the Ibadan branch of the Government College Ibadan (GCI) Old Boys Association, on the association’s platform.

Odude, a proud alumnus of GCI, served as Commissioner of Police in Oyo State between 2017 and 2019. His death has sparked an outpouring of grief from colleagues, associates, and fellow alumni.

Dr. Yinka Adepoju, a former Director General of the Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSAA) and stalwart of the GCI Old Boys Association, expressed his sorrow, describing the loss as “another deep cut” for the association and members of the 1971 set in particular.

Similarly, Ibadan-based politician and GCI alumnus, Mr. Adeniyi Adeoti, lamented the passing, noting that Odude’s contributions to policing and the Old Boys community would be deeply missed.

Before his tenure as Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Odude held several key positions, including Deputy Commissioner of Police, CID, Panti, Yaba; Commissioner of Police, Administration; and roles in the Department of Finance and Administration at Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Messages of condolence continue to pour in for his family, colleagues, and the GCI Old Boys Association community.
