Fire Destroys Two-Storey Building in Lagos’ Ebute-Metta Area
A two-storey building was severely damaged by a fire in the Ebute-Metta area of Lagos on Sunday, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA). The incident occurred at No. 14, Okobaba Street, off Ibadan Street.
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, confirmed that the agency received an emergency call around 11:50 a.m. The LASEMA Response Team (LRT) arrived at the scene to find the building engulfed in flames.
Initial findings suggest the fire started in a flat on the top floor, though the exact cause remains undetermined. The blaze primarily affected a two-bedroom flat, a room-and-parlor self-contained unit, and a single room. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries reported.
The combined efforts of the LRT, LASEMA Fire Unit, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and the Federal Fire Service successfully contained the fire. The team is currently engaged in dampening down operations to prevent any further flare-ups.
