The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with the killing of Police Constable Oboh Goodluck in Yenagoa.

Constable Goodluck was attacked and killed in August 2025 by suspected cultists along the OMPADEC area of Amarata community.

Speaking during the Service of Songs and Lying-in-State of the late officer on Friday, September 26, the State Commissioner of Police, Francis Idu, vowed that all those involved in the crime would be brought to justice.

He revealed that the prime suspect, who has been linked to multiple murder cases and remains on the police wanted list, would soon be apprehended.

CP Idu warned that violent attacks against law enforcement would not be tolerated, stressing that the police would deploy all resources necessary to protect its personnel and secure justice.

“The deceased Constable acted within the law to confront and defend the people from harm against seven hoodlums. Goodluck Oboh gave his life to save the Bayelsa citizenry. If he had succeeded, he would have beaten his chest that he is a peacekeeper,” he stated.

The Commissioner also disclosed that a formal request would be made to Governor Douye Diri to designate the site of the killing as a monument in honor of the fallen officer.

On behalf of the Ayadei/Oboh family, Comrade Kwokwo Robert expressed appreciation to the police for their support during the burial rites, while urging authorities to ensure justice is served.

“The relief we pray for as a family is justice. Those responsible for the killing should also pay the supreme price,” he said.
