The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has won the Golden World Award (GWA) for Impactful Public Relations in Customs Management.
NCS was presented the award at the 2025 International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Gala at the Mövenpick Hotel in Accra, Ghana.
This is contained in a statement by the NCS’s spokesman, Abdullahi Maiwada, on Sunday in Abuja.
Maiwada said that the winning entry for the award was a publication authored by Image Merchants Promotion Limited, that documented NCS’s Comptroller-General(C-G), Bashir Adeniyi’s progressive communication strategies.
He said that the move had evolved into a strategic framework for public relations scholarship in Nigeria.
The spokesman, who received the award on behalf of the NCS, said that the recognition reinforced the service’s vision for institutional credibility and proactive communication.
“This award is a validation of the NCS’s commitment to professionalism, transparency, and stakeholder engagement.
“Under the leadership of the C-G, we have repositioned communication as a strategic tool for reform and trust-building,” he said.
Maiwada quoted the Secretary-General of IPRA, Philip Sheppard, as commending the publication as providing strategies for organisations.
“ It showcases real-life applications of PR leadership drawn from the reforms of the Comptroller-General, Bashir Adeniyi,”Sheppard said.
He said that the award ceremony formed part of the Public Relations Knowledge Sharing Conference themed “Global Realities and Innovative Communication,” held from Oct.1 to Oct. 3 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
