Osinbajo Heads ECOWAS Election Observation Mission to Côte d’Ivoire

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has appointed Nigeria’s former Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON, to lead its Election Observation Mission for Côte d’Ivoire’s forthcoming presidential election scheduled for October 25, 2025.

According to a statement by the regional body, the mission will be deployed from October 19 to 29, 2025, in accordance with the ECOWAS Supplementary Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance.

As Head of Mission, Prof. Osinbajo will lead a delegation of distinguished West Africans to engage key national stakeholders, promote peaceful and credible elections, collaborate with other observer groups, and evaluate the overall conduct of the polls.

ECOWAS emphasized that the deployment of the mission reaffirms its strong commitment to advancing peace, stability, and democratic governance across the West African sub-region.
