Osun’s 33rd Anniversary: Creation Driven by People’s Aspirations, Not Just Politics – Adeleke

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has emphasized that the creation of the state in 1991 was not merely a political event but a realization of the people’s long-held aspirations.

In his statewide broadcast commemorating the 33rd anniversary of Osun’s creation, Adeleke highlighted the sacrifices made by those who believed in the state’s unique cultural heritage and potential.

“The creation of Osun was the culmination of our people’s struggles and aspirations,” Adeleke stated, adding that the founding vision has served as a guiding light for the state’s development.

He paid tribute to the state’s founding fathers, whose sacrifices, he said, laid the foundation for Osun’s progress.

“These heroes fought not for themselves, but for future generations. We owe them our deepest gratitude for advocating a state where the voices of our people could be heard and their potentials fully realized,” the governor said.

Adeleke urged Osun’s citizens to continue contributing to the state’s development, calling for unity, hard work, and community spirit.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency and progress, and called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, and entrepreneurs to play their part in building a brighter future for the state.

Reflecting on the state’s journey since its creation, Adeleke noted Osun’s achievements in infrastructure, youth empowerment, cultural preservation, and security. “Osun has grown in leaps and bounds, becoming a model for other states.

Together, we can make the Osun of tomorrow even greater than today.”

Osun State was established on Aug. 27, 1991, after being carved out of the old Oyo State by the administration of retired Gen. Ibrahim Babangida.
