President Bola Tinubu is set to visit the United States on Tuesday, November 4, for high-level diplomatic talks with top U.S. officials amid growing global attention over allegations of Christian genocide in Nigeria and a threat of military intervention issued by U.S. President Donald Trump.

According to SaharaReporters, Tinubu will meet with U.S. Vice President James David Vance, who has been delegated by President Trump to welcome and hold talks with the Nigerian leader in Washington.

The visit follows Trump’s recent warning that the U.S. military could take action against Nigeria if the alleged killings of Christians continue. He reportedly instructed the Department of War to “prepare for possible action,” describing any U.S. response as “fast, vicious, and sweet.”

Reacting to the developments, the Nigerian Presidency dismissed claims of a religious genocide, stressing that the country remains a democracy guided by constitutional guarantees of freedom of religion and equality before the law.

President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering unity among Nigeria’s diverse faith communities, noting that his government works closely with both Christian and Muslim leaders to strengthen national security and peace.

“The characterisation of Nigeria as religiously intolerant does not reflect our national reality,” Tinubu stated, emphasizing that the nation’s diversity and spirit of peaceful coexistence are central to its identity.

He added that Nigeria will continue to collaborate with the United States and other international partners to deepen mutual understanding and ensure the protection of all religious ‍.
