Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their swift and decisive response to recent banditry attacks in parts of the state.

This was contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, in Kano on Wednesday.

Governor Yusuf gave the commendation when the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna, Major General Abubakar Wase, paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Kano.

He expressed appreciation to the military for their dedication to duty and also thanked President Bola Tinubu for appointing competent service chiefs who are committed to safeguarding national security.

As part of his administration’s support to security operations, the governor announced the donation of 10 Hilux trucks and 60 motorcycles to the Joint Task Force operating in the affected areas.

Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with security agencies to combat banditry, kidnapping, and cattle rustling across the state.

Earlier, Major General Wase said his visit was to assess the security situation in Shanono and Tsanyawa Local Government Areas. He also recalled his childhood memories of the Kano Government House, where his late father, retired Colonel Muhammad Abdullahi-Wase, once served as the Military Administrator of the state.

“I am here on a familiarity visit,” the GOC said, adding that he had visited the scenes of the recent attacks to commend the officers for their efforts.
