Gombe governor distributes N2bn worth of vehicles to judicial officers
Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, on Friday distributed 16 new cars to judicial officers as part of efforts to improve service delivery in the judicial arm of government.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the vehicles comprised two 2025 model Toyota SUVs and 14 GAC SUVs which were distributed to the Chief Judge, High Court Judges, the Grand Khadi, and Khadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal.
Yahaya who was represented by his deputy, Manassah Jatau, at the occasion in Gombe said the move was to enhance the administration of justice in the state.
He said that the gesture underscored his administration’s commitment to strengthening judicial operations and ensuring that judicial officers were comfortable to carry out their duties.
He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the vehicles in line with the reason for which the cars were given towards strengthening service delivery in the judiciary.
The governor assured his administration’s commitment to continuous support to the Judiciary to enhance productivity.
Speaking earlier, Mr Zubairu Umar, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, commended Yahaya for fulfilling his promises to the judicial sector.
Umar said that the administration of Gov. Yahaya had made several interventions, including the construction of the state-of-the-art High Court complex.
Also speaking, Mr Muhammad Magaji, Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, disclosed that the cars were purchased at the cost of over N2 billion.
Magaji said that the vehicles were given to reinforce judicial autonomy and to ensure that the concerned judicial officers performed their duties effectively and efficiently.
He stated that the last time vehicles were purchased for the Judiciary was 10 years ago.
In their respective remarks, the Chief Registrar of Gombe State High Court, Mr Bello Sherif, the Chief Registrar of the Sharia Court of Appeal, Mr Ibrahim Jibrin, and the Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association, Gombe chapter, Mr Alhassan Mu’azu, lauded the government sustain support to the judiciary.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
