Obi Urges National Unity, Calls on Presidency, Statesmen to Pursue Lasting Peace
Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has appealed to Nigerians to remain optimistic and committed to national cohesion following the recent court decision that has generated mixed reactions across the country.
Obi, who made the appeal while addressing concerns about the ruling, stressed that regardless of individual opinions on the court’s outcome, the ultimate goal should be peace, reconciliation, and unity.
According to him, the responsibility of fostering national stability does not rest solely on citizens. He urged the Presidency, the Council of State, and respected statesmen to step forward and help steer the nation toward an inclusive and lasting solution.
“To how anyone feels about the decision of the court, is for us to be optimistic for peace and reconciliation which will come in the end,” he said.
“I am also saying, thereby, that the Presidency, the Council of State and credible statesmen who love this country and who are interested in cohesion and inclusivity, should rise to the occasion, for a lasting solution,” Obi added.
He emphasized that Nigeria’s future depends on collective commitment to unity and constructive dialogue.
