Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully rescued 12 teenage girls abducted by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in the Mussa District of Askira/Uba Local Government Area, Borno State.

A credible military source confirmed to newsmen that the victims, aged between 15 and 20, were seized on November 23 while harvesting crops on their family farmlands.

According to the source, the girls were freed on Saturday during a swift, intelligence-led operation conducted in the southern part of Borno.

The rescued victims — Fatima Shaibu, Fatima Umaru, Hauwa Abubakar, Saliha Muhammed, Sadiya Umaru, Amira Babel, Zara Adamu, Nana Shaibu, Zainab Musa, Zainab Muhammed, Jamila Saidu and Hauwa Hamidu — have been taken to a military facility for medical evaluation, psychological support and debriefing.

Their rescue has brought significant relief to the community, which had been on edge since the abduction.

“The military high command has commended the troops for their gallantry and appreciated the contributions of local informants whose timely intelligence made the operation possible.

“Troops are intensifying operations to track remaining ISWAP elements and prevent further attacks on civilian communities. We urge residents to continue providing credible and timely information to support ongoing security efforts,” the source added.
