Gunmen torch Ondo police station, raze patrol vehicles in night attack
Suspected gunmen on Wednesday night attacked the Divisional Police Headquarters in Ipele, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, setting the facility ablaze and destroying vehicles and other property.
The attack, which reportedly occurred around 9:40 p.m., saw the assailants storm the police station, fire shots and set parts of the building on fire, according to eyewitness accounts.
During the assault, four patrol vehicles and about 15 motorcycles parked within the premises were burnt. Several police exhibits were also destroyed in the inferno.
As of the time of filing this report, details on casualties or arrests had not been officially confirmed, while security operatives were said to be assessing the extent of the damage caused by the attack.
