NSCDC decorates 162 newly promoted officers in Benue
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Benue Command, on Friday decorated 162 newly promoted senior officers with their new ranks in Makurdi.
Speaking at the decoration ceremony, the State Commandant, Mrs Larai Bitrus, congratulated the officers and thanked God for their success in the promotion examinations.
Bitrus said the ceremony was not only a recognition of their hard work, dedication and commitment to duty, but also a demonstration of the confidence reposed in them by the Corps to lead with integrity.
She reminded the officers that their new ranks came with greater responsibilities, professionalism and efficiency, noting that “to whom much is given, much is expected”.
“Your promotion is a recognition of your expertise, leadership and tireless efforts in maintaining peace and order in Benue.
“I urge you to see this elevation as a call to greater responsibility, integrity and service to humanity,” she said.
The commandant reaffirmed the commitment of the NSCDC to the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure in the state.
She assured residents that the Corps would continue to safeguard schools and host communities, as well as provide security for farmers and agro-allied investments.
Bitrus also pledged that the command would ensure that mining activities in the state complied with global best practices.
She commended sister security agencies for their collaboration, stressing that sustained synergy was essential to tackling insecurity and ensuring the safety of residents.
In his remarks, the Benue Commissioner of Police, Mr Ifeanyi Emenari, charged the newly promoted officers to justify the confidence reposed in them.
Emenari said further promotions would depend on sustained dedication, discipline and hard work.
NAN reports that the officers were promoted to the ranks of Assistant Superintendent of Corps and Deputy Superintendent of Corps.
