Explosion Rocks Iran’s Bandar Abbas Port, No Casualties Reported
An explosion struck Iran’s southern port city of Bandar Abbas on Saturday, Iranian media reported, with authorities confirming that no casualties have been recorded so far.
The semi-official Tasnim news agency said the cause of the blast was not immediately known, dismissing social media claims that an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) navy commander was targeted as “completely false.” Tasnim added that residents of the affected building were evacuated as a precaution.
Iran’s IRGC also denied rumors that its navy headquarters in Bandar Abbas had come under attack. According to an IRGC-linked Fars News report, the force said no drone strike had occurred and no IRGC-affiliated buildings were damaged.
The city’s fire chief told Tasnim that emergency teams were working to determine the cause of the explosion after residents and injured individuals were safely evacuated from the damaged residential building.
Meanwhile, reports also emerged of two other explosions in the cities of Ahvaz and Parand. Iran International, citing the Ahvaz Fire Department, said the blast in Ahvaz was caused by a gas leak in a residential building, killing four members of the same family.
Authorities said investigations into the incidents are ongoing.
