U.S. President Donald Trump has said recently released investigative files linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein do not implicate him, insisting the documents instead clear him of any wrongdoing.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday during a flight to Florida, Trump reacted to the public release of more than three million pages of records connected to investigations into Epstein, who was accused of running a sex trafficking ring involving underage girls.

Trump said he had not personally reviewed the documents but had received briefings from what he described as “very important people.”

“I didn’t see it myself, but I was told by some very important people that not only does it absolve me, it’s the opposite of what people were hoping,” he said, adding that the files contradicted expectations among his political opponents, whom he referred to as the “radical left.”

The president also alleged that author Michael Wolff had worked with Epstein in an attempt to damage him politically, saying he was considering legal action against Wolff over the claims.
