Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba to Step Down Amid Government Reshuffle

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has announced his resignation as part of a major government reshuffle following over two and a half years of war with Russia. The 43-year-old diplomat, who has held the position since 2020, is stepping down as Ukraine looks to overhaul its leadership.

Parliamentary Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk shared a photograph of Kuleba’s handwritten resignation letter on Facebook, noting that the request will be discussed in an upcoming parliamentary session. Kuleba’s departure is one of several high-profile resignations made public this week.

Olexander Kamyshin, head of the defense industry, Justice Minister Denys Maliuska, and Environment Minister Ruslan Strilets also submitted their resignations. Vitaly Koval, who leads the State Property Fund, has also announced his intention to step down.

Additionally, Deputy Prime Ministers Olha Stefanishyna, responsible for Ukraine’s European integration, and Iryna Vereshchuk, who oversees refugee affairs, have tendered their resignations.

President Volodymyr Zelensky initiated the reshuffle in July to enhance government efficiency as the war against Russia drags on. Five ministries are currently under interim leadership, with new appointments expected to be announced by Zelensky’s party on Wednesday.
