The Federal Ministry of Works has restated commitment to improved road networks to bridge road infrastructure gaps in the country.

David Umahi, Minister of Works, said this on Wednesday during the North-East Zone National Media Tour and Commissioning of Emergency/Special Intervention Projects, at Lawanti community in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.

Umahi was represented by Faruk Umar, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Gombe State Council.

He said road infrastructure remained a priority under President Bola Tinubu.

The minister said the road restoration in the state followed the impact of flooding which washed parts of the roads, hence the intervention to ease accessibility.

Umahi said the projects would bring relief to road users, prevent flood damage, and enhance the socio-economic wellbeing of the people in the region.

He commended Tinubu for prioritising road infrastructure as a way of boosting economic activities and linking the country.

He also lauded the Akwanga – Jos – Bauchi – Gombe Road dualisation project, adding it would revolutionise road transportation in Nigeria.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the inaugurated roads include the failed shoulder and washouts along Gombe – Bauchi Road, Gombe Bypass Road and bridges along Gombe – Numan – Yola Road.
