The Police Command in Anambra has confirmed the killing of a man by his 21-year-old apprentice (name withheld) on Sunday at Fegge in Onitsha.
Confirming the incident on Monday to newsmen, the command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the suspect has been arrested.
Ikenga further confirmed recovery of a pestle believed to have been used to commit the crime.
“The boss scolded the suspect for his behaviour of pilfering money in the shop, taking drugs and coming back late at night.
“It resulted in an altercation and the situation escalated resulting in the suspect using a pestle from the kitchen to hit his boss on the head.”
The PRO explained that the victim’s wife was rescued and taken to the hospital, where she was responding to treatment.
He said that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, for a comprehensive investigation and to ensure that justice was served.
An eye witness who pleaded anonymity confirmed the police story saying that the apprentice allegedly attacked his boss for scolding him.
