Methodist High School marked its anniversary with the unveiling of several transformative projects, including a state-of-the-art library and modern toilet facilities, all funded by the school’s alumni and their supporters. The week-long celebration, which saw participation from ex-students across the globe, highlighted the ongoing commitment to the school’s growth and legacy.

Akintola, the 1980 best graduating student and a key figure in the celebrations, praised the newly constructed library, which came at a cost of N100 million. He noted that this project, which was built from the ground up, was far more than a mere renovation. It was largely funded by alumni, with Chief Michael Ade-Ojo making a significant contribution in memory of his late wife, a pioneer graduate of the school.

The anniversary also saw the unveiling of two modern toilet facilities, valued at N20 million, and a Corpers’ Lodge funded by the 1997 set at a cost of N30 million. The toilets are equipped with solar power, water supply, and backup generators to ensure reliability. Over the past decade and a half, alumni have donated more than N500 million to support various development initiatives at the school.

The anniversary celebrations also included a series of events aimed at fostering community engagement and school development. Notable activities included a visit to Governor Ademola Adeleke and Oba Adesuyi Haastrup, the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, a seminar to enhance teacher competence, free medical check-ups for teachers and students, and an inter-school quiz competition, among others.

Akintola highlighted that the success of these projects and activities was a testament to the collective effort of the alumni, staff, and local community, reinforcing the school’s lasting impact.
