Russia Offers Free Online Russian Language Course for Kenyans

The Embassy of Russia in Kenya has announced the opening of free online Russian language courses for Kenyans interested in learning the language and gaining insight into Russian culture.

The programme is being organised in partnership with Saint Petersburg State University, with financial support from the Russkiy Mir Foundation.

In a statement, the Russian embassy in Nairobi said registration had opened for the fourth intake of the programme.

“Dear friends, Saint Petersburg State University and the Russian embassy in Kenya are happy to announce registration for the fourth intake of the free Russian language online courses for Kenyans,” the embassy stated.

According to the organisers, participants will be trained to master the Russian language at the A1 level, enabling them to communicate in everyday situations while also gaining a basic understanding of Russian culture.

The embassy added that knowledge of the Russian language could be beneficial for participants interested in studying or working in Russia.

Since the programme was launched, about 800 participants from across Africa have reportedly benefited, helping them integrate more easily into Russian society for education, employment and cultural exchange opportunities.

The initiative is part of ongoing educational and cultural cooperation efforts between Russia and African countries.
