Army Chief Urges Discipline, Unity, Sacrifice Among Troops
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has called on officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army to uphold unity, discipline, and sacrifice in the discharge of their duties.
The charge was delivered during a special Eid-el-Fitr luncheon organised for frontline troops within the 8 Division Area of Responsibility in Katsina State.
Represented by the Commander, Infantry Corps and Centre, Major General Godwin Mutkut, the army chief noted that the values of devotion and self-discipline observed during Ramadan reflect the core principles of military service.
He paid tribute to fallen heroes and commended troops deployed in operational areas for their resilience and commitment, assuring them of continued efforts to enhance their welfare, including improved living conditions, professional development, and support for their families.
Also speaking, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division and Commander, Sector 2, Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Paul Koughna, described the luncheon as timely, noting that it would boost troop morale. He praised soldiers for their sacrifices in ongoing operations against criminal elements.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in Katsina State, Dr Muazu Nasiru Danmusa, who represented Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, lauded the military’s efforts in restoring peace across the state.
He assured of the state government’s continued support in terms of welfare and logistics, while urging troops to remain disciplined, courageous, and steadfast in carrying out their responsibilities.
