Armed bandits have blown up sections of two critical bridges linking Wawa and Luma districts in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, significantly affecting security operations in the area.

Security sources said the attack occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, when the assailants deployed improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to damage the bridges situated within the forest of Kainji Lake National Park.

The affected bridges serve as the only access route connecting the two districts and nearby Agwara Local Government Area, raising concerns over restricted movement and potential setbacks for ongoing military and security patrols along the corridor.

Authorities disclosed that combined security forces are making urgent efforts to access the second bridge, while surveillance operations have been intensified by the New-Bussa Division to prevent further attacks and secure the affected routes.
