Ali Isa, member of the House of Representatives representing Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency of Gombe State, has donated N1 billion for the take-off of the Federal Orthopaedic Hospital in Billiri town of Billiri Local Government Area of Gombe State.

Isa stated this in an interview with newsmen in Gombe on Tuesday shortly after meeting with Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State at the Gombe Government House.

He stated that the hospital was established with a budget line but the 2026 appropriation didn’t capture it as the year’s proposal had already been submitted by President Bola Tinubu before the hospital programme started.

He said that the hospital would be capture in either the supplementary or 2027 budget for full take-off of the institution.

According to him, since he sponsored the Bill for the establishment of the hospital, he said he felt he should give his own contribution fir the take-off of the facility.

“The Federal Orthopaedic Hospital has a budget line created for it but because the hospital programme started late and already the executive has sent their budget proposal to the National Assembly.

“There was no provision for Federal Orthopaedic Hospital Billiri in the 2026 budget but the next budget either supplementary or 2027 appropriation will capture it.

“But for me as a member representing that constituency and also the person that initiated the bill and make it happen, I feel I don’t need to wait for 2027 for the hospital to take off.

“I personally put N1 billion to support the hospital to enable its smooth take-off,” he said.

On why he visited Yahaya, Isa said he went to appreciate the governor for all his support towards the establishment and smooth take-off of the hospital by providing a permanent site for the facility.

He said that Yahaya also highlighted efforts to improve health care facility and delivery in Billiri and other Local Government Areas of the state.

The lawmaker said that the Federal Orthopaedic Hospital in Billiri would offer advanced trauma and orthopaedic care to the entire Northern Nigeria.

He said it would reduce the pressure by trauma and orthopaedic patients on the National Orthopaedic Hospital (NOH), Dala in Kano State.

Isa pledged to continue to advocate for initiative and projects that would help improve the wellbeing of his constituency, adding that “I was voted to provide effective representation and that’s what I am doing.”
