VP Shettima Pledges 50 Trucks of Rice for Maiduguri Flood Victims

Vice President Kashim Shettima visited Maiduguri on Tuesday to offer support to those affected by the recent Alau Dam flood, which has displaced thousands of residents.

Leading a Federal Government delegation, Shettima was welcomed by Governor Babagana Zulum, who accompanied him to the Shehu of Borno’s palace, also affected by the floodwaters.

The vice president then visited Bakassi camp, where many displaced individuals have taken refuge, and assured them of immediate relief, including 50 trucks of rice. He also stated that the government, in partnership with the North East Development Commission and other agencies, would work to ensure that the flood victims spend no longer than two weeks in the camp.

The flood, which devastated large parts of Maiduguri, submerged buildings, roads, and bridges, leaving many residents stranded and in dire need of assistance.
