Military Enhancing Troop Protection After Delta Attack – DHQ

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of troops following the recent killing of 17 military personnel in Okuama, Delta State.

During a press briefing in Abuja, Maj.-Gen. Emeka Onumajuru, Chief of Defence Training and Operations, emphasized that the military is taking strategic steps to protect its forces. He assured that the military is hunting down the attackers and vowed that those responsible will face justice, as directed by President Bola Tinubu.

“The protection of our troops is paramount,” Onumajuru said. “We are working to ensure that our forces are equipped to defend themselves, no matter the situation.”

Onumajuru also addressed the military’s response to the Tudun Biri drone incident, stating that the military has enhanced its civilian harm mitigation efforts and stationed a permanent deployment in the area to boost security.

In addition, the federal government has begun a settlement scheme for conflict-impacted individuals in Tudun Biri, while the Kaduna State Government is constructing a 5.5-kilometer road to link the village with surrounding communities.

The military has also carried out medical outreach programs in the region to further support the community.
